Having served as a member of three Baptist churches in my lifetime, my Christian walk with the Lord began at the age of ten at Second Baptist Church in Ashland, Ky. Later I served as a Deacon at Central Baptist Church in Winchester, KY.  In 1983 Liz and I moved back to Ashland and joined First Baptist Church, where I began serving as a Deacon again. I have served in many roles over those sixty-six plus years as a Sunday School teacher of all ages, committee chairman on several different committees, and Deacon Chairman several times.  Now I am in the role as one of the shepherds of an exciting and growing congregation here at Legacy Ashland, First Baptist Church.

After graduating from the University of Kentucky, Liz and I were married.  Liz and I have two sons and eight grandchildren. Both of our physician sons have served in foreign countries as medical missionaries. Several of our grandchildren have also served on foreign and domestic mission trips. We are so proud of them that they are serving the Lord.

Fun Fact:  Although Liz and I have been married for fifty-three years, we have celebrated fifty-nine Valentine Days together. We have been blessed.

Nick Joyce

Creative Arts and Music

Nick grew up in South Point, Ohio, and attended Grace Christian School from early elementary through high school graduation. He then began studies at Tri-State Bible College with a focus on Theology, before moving to Nashville, TN to pursue opportunities in the music industry.

In Nashville, Nick formed a band that went on to sign a record deal with Christian Artist and CCM pioneer TobyMac, under his label Gotee Records/Warner Brothers. Nick spent the next decade professionally touring both nationally and internationally and sharing stages with some of Christian music's most prolific artists; Phil Wickham, Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W Smith, Skillet, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me,  Newsboys, Jeremy Camp, Jars of Clay, Stellar Kart, Third Day, The Afters, Rebecca St James, Pillar, Crowder, Sidewalk Prophets, and Sanctus Real, just to name a few - as well as producing, recording, and publishing within the Christian Music Industry. He is credited with multiple Billboard Charting Christian Radio singles, as well as garnering publishing credits in TV and film. Nick’s music career expanded beyond the stage as an artist, and he also founded a recording studio which provided production services for other artists, who gained success in wide ranging fields of entertainment. Nick’s behind the scenes work can be heard and seen everywhere from the Southern Gospel radio charts, to NBC’s The Voice, to the Hallmark Channel, to Veggie Tales, and being featured in Hal Leonard sheet music books.

Nick moved back to the Tri-State area after marrying his highschool/college sweetheart Courtney. Leaving the touring life behind, they started a family together in Ashland, Kentucky, and now have 2 sons, Micah and Caleb.
Nick and Courtney started a business called SuperHero Creamery, which has grown to multiple locations and been recognized for both state-wide and regional-level awards.
